Identify continually issues of common concern to all or clusters of our members colleges;
Increase the knowledge of the AVIC Presidents' Assembly about concerns common to all or clusters of its members.
Act on relevant issues to strengthen the organization and the member colleges.
Provide a ready and open forum for discussion, support, and exchange of ideas on personal, professional, policy, operational, and programmatic matters;
Establish an informal, confidential (if desired) process for seeking advice and assistance from member presidents.
Engage campus leaders in plans for the future.
Develop formal and informal ways to stay current and informed.
Position AVIC and its member institutions as key players and exercise our collective voices in the formulation of educational and economic policy through our state, regional, and national representatives and in business, educational, and legislative forums;
Establish clear policy positions on the following matters: Cost, Price and Subsidy; High Tuition/ High Aid; Portability; Privacy Issues in the Higher Education Reauthorization Act; Workforce Investment Needs; Risk Management etc.
Ensure that AVIC members are present and visible in every region of the state, and on Northeast region, national, and international scenes, in keeping with each college mission.
Maintain a strong image and presence for Vermont independent institutions in markets that will enable us to promote programs and services, as well as extending the processes of teaching and learning beyond their usual confines.
Develop innovative partnerships, exchanges, and resource-sharing agreement among AVIC institutions and with other institutions and organizations to meet the needs of all or clusters of our member colleges;
Strengthen existing partnerships and develop others as appropriate.
Establish improved articulation and exchange and launch several projects.
Establish priorities and timetables for implementation.
Seek state, federal, private, corporate, and foundation support in order to keep quality high, keep costs low, and ensure access to the broadest range of students.
Receive grants for several projects.
Fund all priority projects.
