COMMUNITY

PARTNERSHIPS

Part of every AVIC member's mission is to prepare students for lifelong citizenship and social stewardship. To realize that aim, all members integrate service into academic courses, have service programs that manage thousands of student volunteers, and develop meaningful partnerships that direct higher education resources toward community needs.

Students at independent colleges annually contribute approximately 895,400 hours of volunteer time worth over $42 million. An estimated 88% of that time is with K-12 organizations.  Individually and collectively, higher education possesses considerable resources -- human, fiscal, organizational, and intellectual -- that are critical to addressing significant social issues.
